• Things you'll find at Phillips & LLoyd

Since June 1999, Phillips & Lloyd Book Shop has been bringing the latest in new books to the far Western North Carolina Mountains. With a large selection in many genres, such as mystery, gardening, local interests, fiction, inspirational, and kids you are sure to find something you love.

  • A Good Yarn, Hayesville's Yarn

A Good Yarn moved into the book shop in May of 2011.  We now call ourselves "The Land of Yarns." Our slogan is "Land of Yarns, read'm, knit'm, tell'm."  Come in and see the beautiful yarns from around the world.  Tons of supplies, notions, needles and patterns.  Deanna will teach you to knit at your convenience.  Join her at her mother's dining table for a lively knitting session.

  • Special Orders always welcome

If you are looking for a particular title or author, special orders are always welcome just drop by or give us a call. We place orders at least weekly, so books arrive just a few days after your order is placed. Now you can also shop on-line, just click the link in this site and you’ll have access to 1.5+ million books, music and video all delivered right to your door.

If you are coming to the mountains for vacation, call ahead and we will have your books waiting for you.  No charge for shipping on special orders picked up at the shop.

  • Unique locally made Gift Lines

In addition to books, our gift lines are unique and locally made. They include one-of-a-kind knitting, baskets, wood working, stained glass, local honey, jams & jellies and candles.  These items are showcased on the Catalog pages.  They may be purchased by calling the shop, they are not sold via email since the item pictured may have sold.  We can send you email photos of similar items not yet pictured on the website.

  • Shakespeare-the-Cat

Shakespeare-the-Cat joined the staff as the official shop kitten in June of 2009. We found him in the flowers out front when he was just a handful of tiny kitten. He quickly stole the hearts of our customers.  Although he retired when the yarn shop, A Good Yarn, moved in with us he still helps with selections for Cover to Cover book recommendations.  You'll be able to follow Shakespeare's adventures in the woods surrounding our home on the Cover to Cover Page, since many of his selections relate to his adventures.
